The Old Man River Project is an modern day expedition to rediscover the Mississippi River by building a 32 foot York boat named Annie, traveling the length of the Mississippi, and documenting the trip with photos, blog posts, and V.I.O. point-of-view video.
What a cool race, only in Europe man, I’m just glad I get to see stuff like this. The one comes from VholdR.com member rokesoke. Check out the full post here.
What a unique way to film from an RC plane, trailing the camera behind the plane allows the plane to flit in and out of the picture while the camera sails through the air, recording the landscape below as it appears and disappears in the camera’s view screen. The beach, with it’s white frothing sets of waves rolling steadily to the sandy beach, swaps places over and over again with the blue sky pockmarked with fluffy white clouds as the plane barrel rolls over and over.
The plane darts and dives through the air, towards the ocean, beaches and greenery below, towing the camera behind it producing spectacular views of what it might be like being aboard a gliding plane with an insane acrobatic genius at the controls. As the plane careens through the air, the camera records it’s journey from both above and below as the camera moves in relation to the movement of the plane. At one point the little plane looses its prop, making it a true glider. As the plane swoops down, you can see sunbathers on the beach, probably wondering at the site of the plane doing aerobatics overhead. As it passes beyond the sunbathers you get a good view of what appears to be hotels and multiple vacation spots, giving you an impression that this particular video was made by a person on vacation.
Not too many people come home from vacation with video like this to share with their friends!
Here’s a fun way to exercise your dogs without ever leaving the comfort of your own chair. As this little vehicle streaks across the grass, the dogs run as fast as they can trying to catch up. Being low to the ground, the little vehicle can corner much better than the dogs so is generally having no trouble at all staying away from its pursuers. Stopping to allow the dogs to catch up here and there keeps them interested and running. You can see their tongues lolling out of their mouths as they run through the grass and mud and dirt.
This little vehicle is rugged enough to leave them behind going over all the different terrains. At one point, the dogs are so tired they are laying in mud puddles cooling off and catching their breath while the little rc vehicle views them from the hands of the driver. When the dogs appear to have caught their breath, it’s time for another run, as the little vehicle speeds off across the grass, it’s tires kicking up little bits of grass behind it as the dogs run flat out, trying to catch up. The little vehicle speeds through the grass passing all sorts of objects at lightning speed with its pursuers nowhere in site.
At the end of the recording, the little vehicle rolls over multiple times as if the driver is trying to get the vehicle to do a full roll back onto its wheels in order to take off again. It does not appear that the little vehicle was successful and the recording and playtime soon ended.
