Helmet Cams For Motocross

For those of you involved in motocross, you need not be told what a rough, bumpy, dirty, muddy sport this can be. In the past, ‘helmet cams’ consisted of a full sized camcorder bolted to the helmet of the competitor. Because of this, the view was not that of the competitor but above his line of vision. The camcorders were not made for this sort of use so their reliability was dubious. The abuse of bouncing and mud, etc. was quite hard on the systems and circuitry and diminished longevity. Added to that, the camera was fairly heavy and had an effect on how one would hold their head, in a word, it was awkward.

Things have changed, The helmet cam of today really is specifically a helmet cam, it is designed to attach directly to the helmet or the goggles. It is built to resist not only the abuse of bouncing, but it is also water resistant, this translates to… if you get mud or water on it (unless it is a lot) it will be impervious.

The camera is lightweight, comes equipped with an ion-lithium battery an internal microphone and the ability to accept up to a sixteen gig micro sd card. All of this means tons of fun recording while enjoying your favorite sport.
