The first weekend of the 2010 Kokanee Crankworx has been filled with excitement, excellence and rain.  The majestic mountains are welcoming and The energy in Whistler for this event can be felt everywhere. There is a hum of adrenaline running through the village stroll and the energy level is even more visible when approach the base of the Mountain. All of the Big Players are here from the Bike Industry.

This is the week to come up if you are looking to Demo rides from Giant, Specialized and more. Raceface has a great presence along with Marzocchi.

On the Camera front, there Contour is here front and center promoting the Contour1080p and all of the associated accessories. They are running demos out of the tent so that you can rip the mountain. We are also set up within the ContourHD both and are offering a variety of Crankworx Camera Packages for the duration of the event, so come on up to Whistler and check us out!

The first weekend hosted two Big events including the Dendrite Studios premiere of Out of the Shadows, featuring a tonne of stellar GoPro Helmet camera footage. As the first work of the Dendrite boys, they definitely captured some great skiing footage and you can see the growing talent for the making of great films in the future. Watch for them this coming season as they become more and more refined.

Whistler Crankworx 2010 update for Friday, August 13 to Sunday August 15:

Hey Kids, as we glide in to the final weekend of Whistler Crankworx 2010, be sure to take in all of the events that are going on, like…

Today!

Just like yesterday - all day, until 6pm, the Tech Zone, Demo Zone and Expo are open, so drop on by and check out some cool products. From 11:30am - 1pm watch the Giant Slalom Times Trails, that should be pretty epic to watch… from 12pm - 3pm Kokanee Aftershok is going down at the GLC, and Ryan Leech is putting on the Trails RIding Show again today at Noon, 2 and 5 - so head on over there and see whats goin’ on. If you’ve got some young ones (under 10), be sure to take in the Kidsworx, where they can play on the trails with their rides… training wheels or not! From 3-6, watch some of the world’s best riders manoeuver their bikes over some of the most difficult riding terrain in the world during Trailworx - Novice and Sport Categories. Starting at 3:30pm, and running though 6pm, witness the Giant Slalom Amateur finals, presented by Giant Bicycles… and watch these cats shred some trails. Preceding this… we’ve got the Giant Slalom Pro Finals… so makes sure you stick around and see that.

For you music junkies, between 4pm-6pm, you can try your hand at some karaoke, at the CamelBak Karaoke Jump Jam, hosted by Kirt Vories right in Municipal Park. End the week with the sounds of the Deravlor Music Series down in the Village from 9pm to 12:30 in the tomorrow morning.

Saturday, August 14

Getting closer to the end.. start the day with the Tech Zone, Demo Zone and Expo - open all day, from 10am until 6pm. Get psyched because between 10am and 3pm, the Trailsworx Master and Elite categories will be in full action… so make sure you stop by and cheer ‘em on! From noon, the Canadian Cheeserolling Championships take off… until 4pm. That sound oddly fun doesn’t it? As always, Ryan Leech is in the Village Square with his Trials Riding Show at noon, 2 and 5pm, so check that out if you haven’t yet… Kokanee Aftershok migrates back over to Citta’s tonight from 3pm - 6pm… but make sure you duck out early ‘cause from 5:30 - 7:30pm the Monster Energy Slopestyle will be in full swing! Get to bed nice and early, cause we still have one more day to cover folks!

Sunday, August 15

One more day to hit the Tech Zone, Demo Zone and Expo from 10am-6pm… From 11:30 - 3pm the Canadian Open DownHill kicks off - presented by Kona Amateurs Divisions, following this from 3-5, get ready for the Canadian Open DownHill Pro Division.  Ryan Leech is in the Village Square with his Trials Riding Show at noon, 2 and 5pm, so check that out if you haven’t yet - because this is the LAST day for it!

Whistler Crankworx 2010 update for Thursday, August 12:

Whats happening today? all day, until 6pm, the Tech Zone, Demo Zone and Expo are open, so drop on by and check out some cool products. Running from 11:30am through 1pm the Ultimate Pump Track Challenge - the best result will count for qualifying / seeding for the finals. Check out the Village Square at 2pm or 4pm for Ryan Leech Trials Riding Show. Also today the Slopestyle Qualifier Runs are on, so check out who makes it to the finals… and then mosey on over to Citta’s for the Kokanee Aftershok - from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Throughout the evening there is a tonne of other stuff going on, like the VW Trick Showdown (Live Webcast) from 7-8pm, Ultimate Pump Track Challenge Training for Finalists only from 8-10pm and for the night owls, you’ve got the Ultimate Pump Track Challenge presented by Monster Energy (Live Webcast) - and if you’re looking for some wicked tunes… hit the Village for the Deraylor Music Series. Tonight’s headliners include Red Eye Empire with Tito Deville Band & DJ Dr Awesome

Yesterday (August 11, 2010), the weather was a motivator as a tonnes of people gathered in Skiers’ Plaza to watch as Brian Lopes and Anne Caro Chasson blew away their competition in the Air DH.

The fastest stand out in the Jr. Mens Category was Canadian Remi Gauvin, who secured second place, while First place was claimed by New Zealand’s Bryn Dickerson who beat Gauvin by sixteen one-hundredths of a second.
