  1. Disapointed Review by David Egan

I purchased this mount for use on my Burton RED Helmet. All previous contour adhesive mounts seemed to be made for flat surfaces therefore I was very pleased to see this addition to an already solid Contour lineup.

I was hopeful that the base (the adhesive portion) would easily mold to the surface of my curved helmet. I was wrong.

The base is made of solid plastic. While it does "give" slightly - about as well as you'd expect hard plastic to mold (very little - even less than many current contour mounts) it certainly wasn't the soft rubber type base that should have been used to ensure it would curve to nearly all surface types.

To make matters worse, the adhesive used (at least in the one I received) was much weaker than typical contour mounts. Although the center portion was really the only part making solid contact to the helmet, it wasn't sticking enough to support it's own weight (this is just the base, not the green and black top portion attached) the base basically weights nothing and yet slipped off with ease.

Contour - why you didn't use soft molding legs for this base (such a rubber or much thinner plastic) is beyond me - bottom line: if you are looking for a mount to use on a curved surface.. this most likely will not be the solution. (Posted on 12-02-08)
