Narrow Field of View? No Way!
With the HD Surf HERO, say goodbye to a narrow field of view, thanks to GoPro's inclusion of a super wide field of view. Equipped with a 170° wide angle lens, you're never left wondering if you're actually in the film and not cut off at the knees or neck, Once mounted to your board, the HD Surf HERO takes in the whole scene, so all you have to be concerned about, is keeping a calm, collected expression on your face, so you can look cool on camera.
Utilizing the full 170° angle of view while filming at 960 or 720p, the GoPro HD Surf HERO records at the maximum angle of view, capturing every bit of you, your board and that wave you're conquering. But, switched over to 1080p mode, the HD Surf HERO records at a slightly less wide angle of 127°. This still provides optimal scene capturing, while allowing you to shake up your recordings with a little bit of variety. Regardless of which setting you film in, your videos are always caught in the crystal clear HD quality exclusive to the HD Surf HERO.

2, 5, 10, 30, 60 second Auto-Photo Mode: Tell a story with your images by shooting in automatic sequence with the HD Surf HERO. Shooting crisp, sharp still imagery in sequence automatically at 2, 5, 10, 30 and 60 seconds, simply choose the interval, press the shutter and your HD HERO does the rest, capturing a range of stills in perfect consecutive order.
With the battery lasting an incredible 2 hours when shooting a photo every 2 seconds, you're free to shoot as many images as you want so you can edit out all but the best.
3-Photo Burst Mode: Get the best shot without trying in 3-Photo Burst Mode. Shooting 3 sequential images over a 2 second time frame, the GoPro HD Surf HERO lets you shoot like a pro, without the risk of over thinking.

Rating I was fortunate enough to be able to try out a pre-production version of the GoPro HD Helmet HERO, and holy mother of god was I blown away. If you liked the original Helmet HERO, than you MUST check out one of these cameras. The quality is absolutely killer, with a huge improvement on the light metering. The low light performance is now solid, and the issue with the sun (black dot) is taken care of. You will not believe how crisp the image is, even on a 60" flat screen TV. Don't let the size of this camera fool you, it's performance range is HUGE. Sign me up for 2! :-) (Posted on 09-10-04)
