I have used the camera in a variety of situations, on a kayak, bike, stock car and small plane. Resolution is good but the exposure is really affected by the lighting angle. I have noticed an unusual purple light bar, perhaps from internal reflection inside the waterproof case. These cameras are really best for full daylight as resolution drops dramatically and grain is high in low-light. Still, good results when you need a camera where others can't go. I got this camera on this 4th of July sale. Since I had a few bucks extra saved from the sale, I decided to bump the shipping up to 2day. I ordered on the 30th, it came in the 2nd. As soon as I got it I started Videotaping. Let me say, This thing is a fun little tool. I'm extremely happy with what this thing can do. This pack is so nice, I bought a chest mount. I use mine on ATV Trips. What a great camera to use and very simple to operate. The clarity of the video's are amazing. I have the camera mounted on the top of my helmut and even brushing against bushes and twigs in the dense woods never nocked it off. I really like the versatility of different mounting options. Got mine for a trip to Colorado to go skiing. Have now 4 days on four separate mountains, best gadget I have ever bought. No complaints at all, no viewfinder? who cares, you point in the general direction and the wide angle lens picks up.
Battery? I got an extra with my megapack, 2.5 hours filming no problem with space on the 16GB card it came with, thing rocks!! litterally just freaking rocks!!

If you are ever stopped at the side of the ski run with cold hands filming your buddies by one.

if you are always saying ah crap that was awesome wish we had filmed it.. buy one.


Litterally just buy one. Also youtube: pickadolla007 watch what hes done with his camera, mounting the camera on a stick and film yourself and your buddies, bloody brilliant, works way better than you could ever imagine and you need approx 3' of stick to mount the thing on to get yourself in frame with your board and the run.

Used this camera while snorkeling in Hawaii, awesome clarity, great underwater videos. Now using this camera while snowboarding. Once again, great videos! Only concern is gopro need to make a tether for the helmet hero.( if you're not wrecking, you're not trying!) (Posted on 10-02-06)

This is a great camera. I have been playing with my HD Hero for 5 days now and I just love it. I was fortunate enough to be able to try out a pre-production version of the GoPro HD Helmet HERO, and holy mother of god was I blown away. If you liked the original Helmet HERO, than you MUST check out one of these cameras. The quality is absolutely killer, with a huge improvement on the light metering. The low light performance is now solid, and the issue with the sun (black dot) is taken care of. You will not believe how crisp the image is, even on a 60" flat screen TV. Don't let the size of this camera fool you, it's performance range is HUGE. Sign me up for 2! :-) (Posted on 09-10-04)
